82 years Hagan
The name Hagan dates from the 1920’s, it was coined by combining
the family name Hager with that of the town of Antiesenhofen where the company
is located. The company was the result of successful business innovation by the
two Hager brothers. Faced with increasing difficulties in their traditional
carriage building workshops in the ruinous recession after the First World War,
they changed over to the new products toboggans and skis with very satisfactory
results. By 1926 they were selling 500 pairs of skis a year – these were classic
solid wood skis, hand-crafted from ash planks. Each ski was first soaked in
water and then bent to shape on a heated iron model.

Ski production today could hardly be more different to these
early beginnings. A complete change-over has been made to laminated skis plus
special plastics, varnishes, runner surface coatings and of course, the process
machinery needed, all developed internally by the company itself. Development is
continuing unabated. An expert team of development and production specialists is
in constant contact with professional sports people and mountain guides today,
seeing to it that each innovative step is always in precise harmony with
practical needs.
That’s why you are always a ski length ahead with a Hagan ski on
each and every tour you make.
Quality
controlling
Hagan is of one mind with the truly great skiers, nothing is
more important than quality and reliability. All our materials are minutely
inspected on arrival, they pass on through stringent lab tests and are analyzed.
In the same way every Hagan Ski is tested and re-tested before it is allowed to
leave our works. An outstanding team of specialists including skiing and
mountain guides carry out tests and help us with further development work on our
Hagan touring skis.
ECA Aramide Fiber Honeycomb
This honeycomb structure (based on hexagonal cells) is in a
non-metallic, light-weight construction material, it is principally used to
provide a core honeycomb sandwich structure. ECA honeycomb provides maximum
strength at the lowest possible weight.
Wood core
Quality is law for Hagan and 90% of all models are supplied with
a wood core. Hagan uses a lightwood core in a peel veneer with parallel grain
alignment. This type of wood core gives the ski all the elasticity it needs and
increases the service life.
